Walking On Water pt.1

Walking On Water pt.1

I would like to share an excerpt from my upcoming E-book called Walking on Water. Our Christian life is made real by faith. Walking on water is an example of believing and substantiating, making real the promises of God.

Introduction

Today we can choose to believe. Today we can choose to walk on water.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” Hebrews 11:1

Walking on water is a picture of faith. Faith makes promises come to life. It is living and acting like each promise is true.

The Darby translation puts it this way, “Now faith is [the] substantiating of things hoped for, [the] conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

It is giving substance to the facts. To a blind person, the color red means nothing. But to a sight person, red is red. It means something. The facts of the Bible mean nothing but words until they are mixed with faith.

Too many times we let our feelings dictate to us what is real and what isn’t. Feelings have nothing to do with the reality of the scriptures. Faith is reading a statement in the Bible and taking it as fact before we feel it. It becomes real to us when we choose to believe it is true.

Again in Hebrews, it tells us, “but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith…” Hebrews 4:2

Our experiences do not make the Bible true. Rather, it is true whether or not we believe it. It is true. Period. Faith, not our feelings, makes it real to us. We don’t make the Bible match our experiences. My life needs to conform itself to the Bible, not the reverse. God can be trusted. We can believe God.

I would like to encourage you to walk on water no matter your life circumstances.

Are you ready to take your first step? Will you believe the following passages?

Words to light your path this week:

Luke 17:21 For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,

Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

O God, give us courage to step out in faith believing Your words. Amen
