The life of a born-again believer is all about God, serving Him, living for Him, bearing fruit for Him, living in His presence. And proclaiming His excellencies. 2 Corinthians 5:15

We have been bought, purchased. We are not our own. We are no longer the boss of our lives. That life was a life separated from God living in spiritual darkness. He redeemed us and brought us out of that world.

Life is no longer about us, self-centirc, self-centered. It is God-centric, God-centered. Hebrews 12:28, “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.”NKJV

We are now a branch in the vine of Jesus Christ. Is that place simply to give us a good life? No. Jesus said we are to bear fruit. If we don’t bear fruit we are cut off and tossed into the burn pile. Not good. See John 15:1-6

This life of a branch is receiving life from Him to allow His life to flow through us to produce fruit. When we think about it, what is the purpose of an apple branch, a peach branch, a grape branch? To bear fruit, right?

Although this new life isn’t about us, it turns out to be the most fulfilling, purposeful and joyful life possible.

1 Thessalonians 1:9 and how your turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God.

Prayer – Holy Spirit, show us our true purpose in life. Free us from the tyranny of self and a self-centered life. Amen
