Knowing God
Our ability to trust God is based on how well we know Him.
Do you have a friend that you completely trust? Some of us are blessed with such a person in our life. Others not. That trust is based on knowledge of their character. You trust them because you know them, right?
It is the same with God. We can only trust Him if we know Him. Our level of trust is based on how much we know Him. This is different from knowing about Him. We can know much about God without knowing Him.
It is impossible to trust someone we don’t know very well.
So how do we build up our most holy faith so we can face the difficulties in our lives? The giants in our lives? We all have giants that we face that cause us trouble in the least, while others want to destroy our spiritual lives. What do we do about them? How can we have faith to conquer them?
We need to know God. We need to take time, to invest time in getting to know Him better. As we read the Bible, the Holy Spirit will reveal more of God to us if we ask and take time to listen.
The more we know Him the more our faith will grow.
A.W.Tozer says, “The Christian is strong or weak depending upon how closely he has cultivated the knowledge of God.” Tozer on the Almighty God, January 28.
Prayer, O Gracious God, may we invest more time with You, studying Your word, allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal You to us. In You is life. Amen
