Benefiting From the Difficulties of Life
2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Life has difficulties. Did you have a disagreement with your spouse? Are your children bickering? Your head begins to ache. If only life could be easier.
What if we could see it as allowed by God as part of His refining process, conforming us to the image of His Son? Wouldn’t that make it more acceptable? Wouldn’t that bring peace to our troubled life?
When God allows difficulties in our lives many times we don’t recognize it as from Him. We see it with natural eyes and blame whoever caused the difficulty. Whoever didn’t do what we wanted, etc. Or we blame the enemy.
God wants to do surgery, but we balk at it and get angry. Pruning hurts. It is a wound to our self-sufficiency. It exposes our weaknesses. Instead of yielding to God’s pressure we complain and rebuke.
When we realize God is in control of all our circumstances we can stop fussing about our difficulty. We can open our hearts to hear His heart so we can begin to discern what He is trying to teach us. What does He want to remove from our lives and replace with His eternal life so that it is He that lives in us?
O God, to You I bare my soul. Prune out the flesh, the carnal, the sin until You see Jesus in me. Even when I complain, don’t stop until you are pleased with what You see. Until there is fruit that pleases You.

Thank you again for sharing this insightful blog post. Life’s difficulties can be challenging, and your perspective on viewing them as part of God’s refining process is truly inspiring. It’s a powerful reminder to trust in His sovereignty and seek His wisdom in every circumstance. Your words encourage us to yield to God’s pruning, even when it’s painful, and open our hearts to His teaching and transformation. May we continue to seek His will and bear fruit that pleases Him. Thank you for this beautiful prayer of surrender and growth.
Thank you, Aritha. It does make life easier when we have this perspective. Blessings, Sheriena
