A Broader View – Life is Bigger Than Me and My Life

A Broader View – Life is Bigger Than Me and My Life

Sunrise from mountain top

My thoughts on a broader view

Life is bigger than me and my life

God directs my path

God controls my circumstances

I need not complain

He wants to use me for His purposes

It will probably not be something big

Like most people, I tend to overlook my everyday circumstances

It might be ministering in my own home

It will most likely be with those I rub shoulders with daily

It could be in the lives of those I expect something from, but I’m not getting.

It might not have any reward in the present

Can I see beyond the present?

Is there more than me and mine right now? Do I need a broader view?

God knows the end from the beginning and has beautiful plans. Do I give Him a chance to live out His plans through me? Do I give Him space and opportunity or am I consumed with my plans and goals?

I have discovered if I Seek Him first and His kingdom before my plans and wishes, all my needs will be met. It is the way of His kingdom. Set myself aside. Take a back seat. Let Him have first place. Let Him be prominent in my life. Allow Him to increase and me to decrease. There I will find peace and even joy. Incredible joy!

As you begin a new year, will you join me in allowing God to give us a broader viewpoint, to see beyond the immediate? To be a vessel of honor of our Master’s use? Live beyond ourselves?

Words to light your path this week –

  • 2 Timothy 2:20-21 Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.  ESV
  • Matthew 6:33  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  ESV
  • 2 Corinthians 5:14,15   For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.  ESV

Remember – Take one of the above passages and meditate on it, marinate in its truth and let it transform your focus.

Prayer – O Holy One That Inhabits Eternity, give us the courage to look away from ourselves and our little lives, to focus on You that we might see clearly. Amen
