Sitting At the Feet of Jesus
Throughout all time, there has been a sanctuary, a safe place, from which to live life.
As we go about our daily lives, that one place is where God wants us to remain – sitting at the feet of Jesus…whatever our lives require of us…whatever the problems that come multiple times throughout the day…whatever we want or don’t want…however we feel – good, awful, or nothing special.
In our spirit, our inner being, we can and need to stay with Jesus. With our spirit, we can be sitting at the feet of Jesus in tune with Him. Listening. There we will find whatever we need. Which of the following speaks to you today?
Are you troubled and worried? Just look at Jesus. He speaks peace to you.
Are you tired? Look to Him for your renewing strength.
Are you too busy? He will show you what is really important.
Are you frustrated? Look to Him for the needed patience.
Are you hurt or wounded? He provides healing for body and soul.
Don’t know what to do? He will open your eyes to the answer or provide grace to wait on Him.
Are you depressed? He can show you what is reality. When our minds imagine the worst, He can clear that away and show you His love.
Are you tempted to sin? Just look to Him and it will melt away.
Is your day monotonous? Look to Him for purpose and contentment.
Feel like a failure? Make every decision from this place. You will not be a failure.
Only a look. Only a look. Not just a glance. Take time to really look at Him. Read the scriptures so you can get to know Him, especially the book of John where Jesus speaks so much about who He is, why He came and what He wants for us.
Let’s not pretend we don’t need Him. We are nothing without Him.
Remain sitting at the feet of Jesus. Don’t hop up and go on your own when you feel better. When you do, you are on your own. Live your life while sitting at the feet of Jesus. It has taken me many years to come to this place, but it is truly the best place from which to live life.
Words to light your path
(take one each day and let it feed your spirit)
Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. ESV
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. ESV
Philippians 4:6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ESV
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ESV
Psalm 4:8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. ESV
Psalm 9:10 And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you. ESV
Pray with me, Father God, help us to remain at the feet of Jesus always learning, always receiving from Him what we need for each minute, each situation of the day.
