The Light Could Not Be Conquered
In the beginning, God created a perfect world. The two humans had all they needed. They even could walk and talk with their creator, Elohim, God. But…Evil stepped in and defiled that world and plunged it into darkness.
Light sent to the world
So God sent His Son, the Light of the World, to bring light to His world, to the people He created.
This angered Evil. Forces were deployed to kill that Light before it had a chance to grow up and fulfill His mission.
But, they failed. The Light survived and grew to be a man.
I have come down from heaven not to do my will, but the will of Him who sent Me. John 6:38
Not to be deterred, Evil set about to bring down that Light, to corrupt that Light, to bring it into subjection to the evil. Luke 4:1-11 But, the Light had supernatural strength given to Him by His Father.
And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”John 1:32-34
Light Arrested
One more chance. Evil brought false accusations against that Light and through human agents had that Light condemned to death.
Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’ “Matthew 26:59-61
They did not take His life; He gave it willingly.
Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father. John 10:17-18
Light of the world killed
There that Light hung dying on the cross. The Evil could now celebrate. The Light was to be extinguished. Matthew 27: 45-50.
After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:28-30
Resurrected Light
On the morning of the third day, the earth began to tremble and shake. The huge stone that had been rolled in front of the tomb where the Light was buried was rolled away and Light came forth triumphant. Death could not hold that Light for the Father had been keeping watch over that Light, pleased with the Light for fulfilling His plan. On that third morning, the Father breathed Life back into that body and raised His Son from the dead.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11.
The Light could not be conquered. It could not be extinguished.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5 ESV
Light for you and me
Jesus came to give us light by living in us. If we receive Him we will have the right to be called God’s child.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. John 1:12
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12
