Faith or Fear
Faith or fear? What do we allow to influence our daily lives?
Fear
Fear is not believing God is enough, nearby or cares. Fear is agreeing with the bad news, agreeing with the statements of doubt. Fear is faith in something or someone other than God.
What do we choose to have faith in? The bad news or God’s good news?
Elisha’s servant anxiously viewed the armies surrounding their home. The enemy had invaded overnight and had surrounded the city. What he saw with his human eyes was very scary. “What shall we do?” he asked the prophet.
However, Elisha knew that God was with them. He had faith. He listened to the quiet assurance God gave him and was not worried. “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them,” he assured his servant.
Elisha prayed to God that He would open his servant’s eyes to see the truth. He wanted his servant to see the truth, truth that couldn’t be seen naturally.
What did his servant see? A vast heavenly army surrounding the enemy. 2 Kings 6:14-17
Faith
In the middle of all the doubts shouted at us, let’s listen for that still small voice of God that reassures us of His love. His words of love and hope are abundant in His word if we would but look for them and let our minds think on those promises. God still has our best interests in mind.
How rich do you think God is? Philippians 4:19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. ESV
He promises to take care of us. He promises that nothing can hurt us, who we are. Our bodies might be hurt, but that is not us. Our feelings might be wounded, but they are not us. Our hopes and dreams might be shattered, but they are not us.
Our spirit is safe with Him. Our lives are hidden with Christ in God. Nothing can separate us from His love.
Let’s read the scriptures to learn who God is and what He wants for us. As often as you can, read a page, chapter, or a small passage to feed our spirits. The more we get to know God, the more we will trust Him.
Jesus said in John 8:32-32, “If you abide in My word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”NKJV Free from bad things, like fear.
Do you know (really know) that God loves you. You, specifically. What does God say through Apostle John in 1 John?
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear…NKJV
1 John 4:8 God is love NKJV

Matthew 6:31-34 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. NLT
Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ESV
1 Peter 5:6-7 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. NKJV
Keeping Our Eyes on God’s Greatness

Maybe it is time to listen to the Father’s Love Letter again.
Prayer,
Abba Father, help us to have faith in You and not in what we can see with our natural eyes. You are so much more than what we see.
