Twice Saved? How Can That Be?

Twice Saved? How Can That Be?

two eagles flying, we are twice saved

Twice saved? Saved from what? Saved again?

No, this isn’t some strange new doctrine. Let me explain. We are saved from:
  1. Penalty of Sin
  2. Our sinful nature, our  weak will, our tendency to fail
Yes, I’ve been twice saved. For that, I am forever grateful. Finally, after 40 years of doing my best, and not doing so good I found I can’t change myself, free myself from my sinful nature. Free me from what the Bible calls flesh. But He can and did. I reached that point by giving up and taking hold of His life. Letting Him live through me. Such freedom! My natural nature no longer controls me. I don’t have to be who I was raised to be.

Saved from old nature

“It’s just who I am” no longer controls me. I am free to yield to God. O, my old nature is still around, but I’m not obligated to it anymore. I now find in me a conflict. My old nature hates God and is His enemy. Romans 8:7-8  It still wants to be in control, but there is within me a greater power that will crush the old every time I chose to yield to God. Romans 6:6 That same power that raised Jesus from the dead will also give life to me, it will dominate me if that is my choice. Our enemy can make our lives miserable as Christians if he can convince us that it is up to us to live the Christian life. Even our good flesh is still flesh and is the enemy of God. See how I quit trying so hard to be a Christian.

How to be twice saved

We must yield to God constantly. Stay in the vine and allow His life to flow through us enabling us to be saved from our old nature. Filling us with His nature. Give up our efforts to be good and allow Him to live through us. Twice saved. Saved every day. Every minute. We are saved from the penalty for our sins, but we are also saved from our sinful nature. Words to light your path – Romans 5:10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.  Romans 6:12-14 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Kind Father in heaven, You have complete salvation for us. It isn’t only to have our sins forgiven so we can go to heaven, but You have provided a way for us to be saved from ourselves, our sinful nature. Thank You so much. Help us to apply this knowledge to our daily walk with You.
