An Answer to Prayer – Panic Attack Update
Do you remember my sharing with you more than a year ago about someone I care deeply about? To refresh your memory or if you didn’t see the post I will explain.
I hadn’t seen this person in a few months. He had looked fairly healthy and clean. Then the end of July I saw him again and knew he was back on drugs. He looked underweight, hollowed-eyed, and jittery. It shook me to the core.
Later that evening as I did my usual walk and prayer time I contemplated the situation. Tears flowed, my throat constricted and my chest tightened. It felt like my heart was literally breaking. My chest hurt. It was all I could do to keep walking and not break down on a public street. Was this a what a panic attack felt like, I wondered?
It seemed like the devil was mocking my faith. If I could have seen the spirit world I’m sure I would have seen demons surrounding me and laughing at me. The enemy is evil and likes to make us think that he has won.
At that moment God spoke to my heart letting me know that although it looked terrible, He was not finished working. A battle may have been lost, and the enemy may look like he is winning, but the war is not over.
God reminded me that He was still God and nothing was too hard for Him. Trust Him and keep praying.
In 1 John chapter 5, He promises that if we pray according to His will we know that He hears us, and we will receive what we asked for. He will answer our prayer. I reminded myself that salvation is God’s will for everyone. So I knew I was praying according to His will
I took a deep breath and began to praise God for being so kind and patient with me. I focused my mind on Jesus, and the joy of the Holy Spirit began to bubble up in my heart. What an incredible experience. God is so good.
That autumn He kept encouraging me to trust in Him. I didn’t see this person until Thanksgiving. What a difference! He looked healthy. He looked us in the eye. He participated in our Thanksgiving. Then the following spring he began college and has currently completed two quarters making the dean’s list both quarters. Wow! My prayer was answered!
He has repented of his ways and committed his life to God and was baptized in water a few weeks ago. He is currently pursuing his college education.
God is so good!! When all looks lost, remember, nothing is too hard for God. He wants to answer prayer and save people.

Words to light your path –
The Lord is…longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 1 John 5:14-15
Has God answered your prayer concerning someone you would like to share to encourage us?
Father God, no one can come to you unless you draw him. It is all of you. You call, You save. It is all of You. We cannot do anything except pray. May we never quit praying. Someone’s salvation depends on our standing in the gap for them before the throne of grace. Help us to never give up. Help us to trust you completely.
