One Thing I Must Have – Rock Solid Faith
As I promised, here is the one thing I must have.
So what is it that I must have?
There is really only one thing I must have. Only one thing I need.
- I need a truth that will endure.
- I need a truth that will be there Monday morning.
- I need a truth that will be there when I don’t feel spiritual.
- I need a truth that will be there in the good times.
- I need a truth that will be there when I have too much to do and no energy left to do anything.
- I need a truth that will be there when a depressed loved one goes missing.
- I need a truth that will be there when I see a loved one wasting away from drug addiction.
- I need a truth that will be there when all around my soul gives way.
- I need a truth that will be there when I don’t feel God’s presence.
- I need a truth that will be there when I am rejected by a friend.
- I need a truth that will be there when a family member won’t speak to me.
It must be rock solid.
- It must be unaffected by changes in culture.
- It must be unaffected by changes in church culture.
- It must be unaffected by spiritual leaders who fall away.
- It must be unaffected by my feelings.
- It must be unaffected by experiences.
There is a truth that is sure. It provides me with a supernatural joy that brings a smile to me in the face of every storm. It may not be hand clapping or dancing kind of happiness, but it is a quiet sustainable joy independent of all circumstances. It is my strength.
It is the knowledge that I belong to the God of the universe and He is in charge. All may not look well right now, but I have learned that I can trust Him.
He knows the cry of my heart, He has heard me. John told us that if we know He hears us then we know we have the petition that we have asked.
It is the knowledge that Jesus lives in me, through me, meeting every challenge that I am faced with. I don’t have to deal with any situation. He deals with it for me if I will look to Him.
One thing I must have is the knowledge that the Bible is true, every part of it. If I don’t experience it, then I know the Bible is not wrong, but I am. What does the Bible say? Study it here.
Psalms 62:2 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.
Lord God in heaven, Thank You for being my defense, my rock. You provide stability to my life.
