Prayer for Salvation – Have You Prayed This Prayer?
Would you like to pray a prayer for salvation, but don’t quite know what to say? You might use the following prayer.
Lord God Almighty, the One who lives in the realm of eternity, the One who created me and loves me beyond my comprehension, the One who sent His Son who gave His life to atone for my sins, and to wash me clean, I pray this prayer for salvation.
I come without any hope in myself, not waiting to attempt to make myself presentable and though I have many doubts, fears, and struggles within and around me, I come.
I come because you ask me to come. While I was yet stained with sin and unappreciative of Your love for me, You asked me to come to You.
I confess that I am a sinner and need You. I stand humbly before You not wanting anything except to know You and to know that You accept me. I now acknowledge that salvation is a gift found only through the death of Your Son. He is what I need. He is all I need. I give You my life in exchange for Your life. I accept Your life into my inner being.
I come to You just as I am confessing my need for You. Confessing my arrogance and disrespect for You by living all these years independently of You, going my way, doing what I wanted. I now see that all life comes from You. Even though I live in a fallen, corrupt world under the influence of the evil one, You can teach me to live rightly. You can transform my mind so that I will think correct thoughts. I now turn from my old life and choose to follow You.
I am so used to being in charge of my life that it will take some time getting used to checking with You about everything, but that is what I want to do. You want to be my God, the director of my life because You know the end from the beginning. You deeply care for me beyond my comprehension. Open the eyes of my understanding that I might be able to see correctly.
I have been under the influence of the world around me – my friends, the media, my education and my family. Now I need to rethink everything in the light of what You want and what You have for me. Transform my mind so that I think correctly. Breathe Your life into me. Make me Your person.
Thank you for accepting me and making me part of Your family. Help me to cling tightly to You and to walk with You each and every day as I learn to be Your disciple.
