How to Live an Extraordinary Ordinary Life
Ordinary life
Do you long for something that would change your normal Christian life into an extraordinary ordinary life? We want to be used by God doing something special, but when do we have the time, right? We are busy just living, getting through each day with all of its demands, activities, and schedules.
Most of our lives are very ordinary, don’t you think? Even well-known personalities have ordinary lives. Doing common activities like eating, cleaning the house, shopping, going to work, getting our vehicle fixed, raising children, etc. The list could go on much longer. But, I think you get my point. We live very ordinary lives. Kind of like a life without flowers versus a life with flowers.
Extraordinary life
What we may not understand is God wants to flow through our ordinary lives with His living water transforming the ordinary into extraordinary. Our life of faith is not to be separate from our daily lives. It flavors and infuses our lives.
Let me give you an example of what I mean. What is the difference between a push mower and a riding mower? You do the work of moving the push mower, right? Now, what about the rider mower. All you have to do is sit on it push the gas and it goes all by itself. One is powered by you. The other is powered by gas.
So is the Christian life. Many try to live the Christian life by their own power. That can be very hard. Christ wants to empower us with His life touching us with His supernatural life.
God wants us to be His representative to our co-workers, to the cashier at the grocery store, and even to your children. Being His follower is not limited to special occasions or at church. Being His follower is for every day, hour, and minute. There is no downtime.
God’s Spirit in us
He has empowered us with His own life. The life that spoke the worlds into existence. If we have been born again, His life (His essence) is in us empowering us to live extraordinary ordinary lives. Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” He has placed each of us where He wants us. So let’s look to God to empower us to shine for Him every day, hour, and minute while we are doing the dishes, going to work, helping our children with their homework or buying groceries. Instead of pushing our way through life, let’s rest in His ability to live through us.

Prayer
Father, Your Son said He came to give us life abundantly. More than enough. A close relationship with You. Your touch on our lives and Your Spirit living in us will give our lives the touch of the extraordinary.
