Supernatural Christian Life
Supernatural Christian life? Really? Is your Christian life not all that you had hoped for or expected? Are you doing well in your eyes? Is your relationship with God based on how well you perform? Do you feel like you have failed your Savior?
Much of the time we Christians think that it is up to us to live the Christian life by our efforts. How many of us invited God into our lives then wondered why life does not go so well? So we try harder. We pray more, read the Bible more, etc. We want to please him, but so many times we fail.
Performing
We mistakenly think God has mercifully forgiven us and saved us, but now it is up to us to live right. Doing our best, right? Performing, right?
That can be quite a heavy load to carry.
The good news is that it is not true. It is not our responsibility because we do not have the capability. Living the Christian life is not of human strength. It is not a natural growth. Rather it is a supernatural growth. Empowered and infused by the Holy Spirit.
He wants us to draw from His abilities, His very life, like a branch, draws its life from the vine. The branch does not have life in itself. Its life comes from the vine. Our ability to grow, deal with stressful situations, or produce fruit does not come from our abilities. If the branch were cut off from the vine, it would produce no fruit. It would stop growing and die.
So it is with being a Christian. At the new birth, we were forgiven, accepted, and placed into Christ. We have been grafted into the vine of Jesus and receive from Him all we need for life and godliness. All that He has is ours. If we try to live this Christian life by our abilities, we are acting like we are a branch cut off from the vine.
Do you see if He lives through us we will have His abilities and His guidance? Every moment of every day of every week, month, and year.
Our Christian life is not performance-based.
It is all of grace.
It is a gift.
It is all of Him.
By allowing Him to live through us, He will take care of the stress, fears, worry, etc. It is only possible as we allow God to live His life through us. Only His spiritual life can produce in us spiritual fruit. We can’t. Natural abilities cannot produce spiritual fruit. Are you beginning to see how it is not of us at all? It is supernatural.
It is of Him.
Salvation was a gift.
Daily spiritual life is a gift.
Allow Him to live through you, and you will not be disappointed. Keep your focus on yielding to Him and drawing from His resources.
Words to light your path –
John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me.
Loving Father, You have made it possible for us to live a life that is pleasing to You and fruitful if we would simply stay attached to Jesus and draw from Him all we need. Thank You so much.
